Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

For the twelfth consecutive year, the Old Globe brings to life Dr. Seuss’ heart-warming holiday classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, in the form of an extravagant family-friendly musical.

Colorful costumes, whimsical set designs inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations, and favorite songs from the popular animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas mark what is quickly becoming a San Diego holiday tradition.

Originally conceived by the Globe’s former artistic director, Jack O’Brien, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas recently made its way to Broadway where it broke box office attendance records during limited engagements in 2006 and 2007.

Jeff Skowron, who was part of both Broadway casts, ascends to the title role of the Green Meanie himself in this year’s run at the musical’s birthplace. His other Broadway credits include The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, High Society, and The Boy from Oz (opposite Hugh Jackman).

Once again, the Globe’s stage will be transformed into a snow-covered Whoville, right down to the last can of Who-hash. The entire spectacle is directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein, who also headed the Globe’s 2007 production.

Regular performance times are set at such kid-friendly hours as 7:00 p.m., Tuesday–Friday, 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Saturday–Sunday, with an additional 8:00 p.m. time on Saturday and a 5:00 p.m. curtain on Sunday.
