Ollin
Nov 7, 09
. Los Angeles Chicano Band, Ollin, began as more than a musical project; the essence of the band is punk, but the instrumentation and musical development of the band has its heart in the beautiful music of Mexico. Tex-Mex barn burners and stomping Jarocho tunes became show staples. As the band matured they began to look beyond the walls of their own culture for inspiration. Ollin soon discovered musical and social parallels in African, Irish, Klezmer, and nearly all world genres. They are on a life long crusade to encounter and learn from any given cultures music. This is evident in their fiery live shows as they masterfully weave world styles with rock and roll sensibilities.
