Join us for an experience with Tokyo-based tea expert Takahiro Okabe—tea producer, curator, educator, and founder of Japan’s first Tea Brewing Championship.
This immersive program invites participants to explore the rich diversity and evolving creativity of Japanese tea culture. Moving beyond familiar green teas, guests will discover a deeply roasted hojicha.

Through guided tastings and demonstrations, participants will:

  • Explore the range of hojicha, from light to deep roasts

  • Learn the differences between leaf and stem teas

  • Taste emerging styles

  • Discover hojicha

Drawing on his experience as a tea competition founder, he will also introduce a variety of brewing techniques—from fundamental methods to more creative approaches, including cold and hot blending, dripper brewing, and shaker techniques.

The program concludes with Chakabuki, a traditional Japanese tea-tasting game once enjoyed by samurai and aristocrats. In this interactive experience, participants will taste and memorize five different teas, then put their senses to the test by identifying them in a blind tasting challenge.

Blending tradition, innovation, and play, this unique program offers a rare opportunity to deepen your appreciation of Japanese tea in an engaging and memorable way.
