Join us for a special evening celebrating the release of El Presidio de San Diego, the latest book by local author and archaeologist Richard L. Carrico.
El Presidio de San Diego, is the first publication to take a deep dive into the archaeology and history of the San Diego Presidio. Through evocative illustrations and lively narrative, Carrico brings to life the people who lived and died at the Presidio. The site of Alta California’s first mission and European settlement, the San Diego Presidio’s story is essential to understanding the region’s past, and this accessible new book gives it the attention it deserves.
During the program, Richard will be joined by a distinguished panel that will explore the broader historical, cultural, and Indigenous context of the Presidio:
Erica Pinto, Chairwoman, Jamul Indian Village
Seth Mallios, Professor of Anthropology, San Diego State University
Fred Grand, Californio descendant and Executive Director, Old Town Chamber of Commerce
