August Rush comes to the stage in a world premiere musical inspired by the beloved Oscar and Grammy-nominated Warner Bros. motion picture. A charismatic young Irish guitarist and a sheltered young cellist have a chance encounter one magical night above New York’s Washington Square, but are soon torn apart — leaving in their wake an infant, August Rush, orphaned by circumstance. This musically gifted child runs away from his orphanage and searches New York City for his birth parents. On his journey, he’s taken under the wing of a mysterious stranger, Wizard, who shelters young street musicians in an abandoned Filmore East theatre. Soon performing on the streets of New York, August uses his remarkable musical talent to seek the parents from whom he was separated at birth.
