The Festival is dedicated to the master of world literature Miguel de Cervantes, born in San Diego’s sister city in Spain, Alcalá de Henares. We gather in Balboa Park for a public reading of Cervantes‘ masterpiece, Don Quijote de La Mancha. In addition to the reading, food is available for purchase: Spanish paella, Mexican salsas and chips and Panamanian empanadas and tamales. Entertainment includes Spanish flamenco music and dancers; guitarists and singer of Latino music favorites; and a student folclórico dance group.
