Join dyer, weaver, and textile conservator Sarah Winston to explore the natural blue of indigo, inspired by Blue Gold- The Art and Science of Indigo, in this two-day shibori workshop. Participants will dive into the rich history and artistry behind indigo dye, learning a variety of shibori dye resist techniques, such as tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) methods. Using a natural indigo vat, students will dye a bamboo scarf, gaining a deeper understanding of the intricate connection between indigo dye and traditional textile surface design. By the end, students will have acquired foundational techniques to continue their journey in crafting beautiful, one-of-a-kind textiles.

This workshop is a two-day event taking place on Saturday, January 11th and Saturday, January 18th from 9:30am-12:30pm
